i'm super stoked to share my thoughts on the upcoming tomb raider game, legacy of atlantis - it's basically a reimagined version of lara croft's first adventure, but with a modern twist. i recently got to play it for about an hour, and i have to say, it's got me pretty excited.

the part i played took place in the lost valley area in peru, where lara has to solve this classic cog puzzle to unlock a door. the thing is, the game doesn't hold your hand - you have to figure out where to find the second cog on your own, using clues from the environment. it's actually pretty challenging, but in a good way - it feels really immersive and true to lara's character as an archaeologist and explorer.

one thing that stood out to me was the emphasis on exploration - there are tons of side paths and hidden areas to discover, and you can even find caves by diving down into pools or discover handholds in walls. it's like, the more you explore, the more you'll find, and it's really rewarding. plus, the crafting system seems like it's going to be a big part of the game, although i didn't get to try it out in the demo.

the gameplay itself feels really fluid - lara is super agile, and you can do all these cool moves like hanging off ledges, leaping between poles, and using a grappling hook to cross gaps. and when you're in combat, it's all about being mobile and aggressive - you can dive, roll, and cartwheel to avoid attacks, and then fire away with lara's classic dual pistols. i have to say, it's pretty exhilarating.
