so i just heard about this really emotional game called 1998: the toll keeper story, and i'm already hooked. it's set in indonesia during a time of social unrest and monetary crisis, which is pretty heavy stuff. the game follows the story of dewi, a mom who's just trying to keep her baby safe while working at a toll booth.

i love that the game is inspired by real events, but also draws from the developers' own experiences and homeland history. it's not just some generic storyline - it's actually rooted in something real and meaningful. and the fact that dewi isn't some kind of action hero, but just a regular person trying to survive, makes the story even more relatable and human.

the gameplay mechanics are pretty interesting too. it's kind of like papers, please, where you have to check documents and currency, but in this case, it's all about dewi's daily routine at the toll booth. as she interacts with people, she hears their stories and struggles, and it's up to her to make choices that will affect the outcome of the game. i'm really curious to see how this all plays out, and how the different endings will be affected by the player's decisions.
one thing that caught my eye is the use of hand-drawn cutscenes, which i adore. there's something so charming and personal about that style of animation. and the fact that the game uses the playstation 5's haptic feedback technology to make the experience even more immersive is pretty cool. i can imagine it really adding to the tension and emotions of the game, especially in scenes where dewi is dealing with difficult situations.

preorders are available at major retailers, and i'm definitely considering picking it up when it comes out. iRead more: Full article on blog.playstation.com
