so, let's start with the very first dragon quest game to land on playstation, which was released way back in 2000 in japan and 2001 in the us. this game was a total game-changer, introducing 3d polygon graphics to the series for the very first time. i mean, can you imagine playing a dragon quest game with huge, sprawling worlds to explore and complex storylines to unravel? it was a true behemoth of a game, taking over 100 hours to complete, and it set the stage for all the incredible innovations that would follow.



fast forward to the playstation 2 era, and we got another amazing installment that took the series to even greater heights. this game was the first fully 3d title in the series, with stunning characters, environments, and cutscenes that really showed off the ps2's processing power. it also introduced some foundational mechanics like character-shaping skill points, which have since become a staple of the franchise. and let's not forget the epic quest to break the curse of the wicked jester, dhoulmagus - it's a storyline that still gives me chills to this day.
