omg, you guys, the metro series is back with a new game called metro 2039. i'm super stoked because this series is literally one of my faves - it's all about post-apocalyptic russia and the creepy metro tunnels that the survivors live in. the new game is set six years after the first one and is written with the help of the original author, dmitry glukhovsky.

so, metro 2039 takes us back to the tunnels of moscow, which is kinda where the series started. but this time, the underground factions are all united under one leader, fuhrer hunter, who's all about spreading propaganda and fear. it sounds super intense and dark, which is perfect for this series. our new protagonist, the stranger, is a recluse with some serious nightmares, and he's forced to go back to the metro to face his past.

i love that the game is focusing on environmental storytelling, which means that the levels are designed to tell their own stories through the items and bodies you find. it's like, you can piece together what happened in this area just by exploring, which is so cool. and, of course, there are mutants and other creepy creatures to fight, which is always a plus in my book. the gameplay teaser showed off some of this, and it looks amazing - the graphics are stunning, especially with the ray-tracing tech they're using.
