omg, you guys, some big news just dropped about the playstation store on ps3 and ps vita. basically, it's shutting down, which is kinda sad because those consoles were such a huge part of my childhood. i mean, who didn't spend hours playing games like little big planet or uncharted on their ps3? it's crazy to think that an era is coming to an end.

so, here's the deal - the playstation store on ps3 will start closing in some places this year, and then it'll be gone for good everywhere next year. same thing with ps vita. after that, you won't be able to buy any new games or content on those devices, which is a bit of a bummer. but, on the bright side, you'll still be able to download stuff you've already bought, so that's a relief.

i guess the reason for all this is that the playstation store needs to keep up with the times and support newer payment systems and stuff, which the ps3 and ps vita just can't handle. it makes sense, but it's still hard to say goodbye to those old consoles. i mean, i know most people have moved on to newer devices by now, but there's still something special about playing old games on the original hardware.

preorders are available at major retailers, but let's be real, this isn't really about buying new games right now - it's about the end of an era. playstation is clearly focusing on the future and the newer consoles, which is cool and all, but it's also nice to look back and appreciate how far we've come. i'm just glad they're giving us a heads up and not just cutting us off completely.

anyway, that's the newsRead more: Full article on blog.playstation.com
