hey guys, you know how xbox has been talking about making some big changes lately? well, it looks like those changes are already starting to happen. there's a rumor going around that compulsion games, the studio behind south of midnight and we happy few, is getting shut down. this is pretty surprising, especially since xbox was just bragging about the studio's achievements a few months ago.

i mean, south of midnight just came out in 2025 and it got amazing reviews - it even won a few awards, including the games for impact award and a peabody award. so it's weird that xbox would decide to close down the studio that made it. apparently, the reason is that xbox is trying to refocus its resources on its bigger franchises. the ceo, asha sharma, said something about how they expanded their studio system too much and now they're overextended.

it's not like compulsion games is a huge studio or anything - they only have around 100 employees. but still, it's sad to see them go, especially since they were making such unique and interesting games. we happy few was a bit of a cult classic, and south of midnight was getting a lot of attention for its storytelling. i'm not sure what's going to happen to the people who worked at compulsion games now, but hopefully they'll be able to find new jobs at other studios.
