so i just heard about the coolest thing - the guy who created the xbox, seamus blackley, recently went back to the microsoft campus and did something totally unexpected. instead of just reminiscing about old times or talking business, he decided to forage for wild yeast to make bread. yeah, you read that right - bread. i mean, i love a good loaf as much as the next person, but this is just taking it to a whole new level.

apparently, blackley has been super into ancient breadmaking techniques lately, and he's even gone so far as to recreate an ancient egyptian bread recipe using yeast from 4,500 year old pottery. that's some serious dedication to the craft. and when he got the chance to visit the microsoft campus again, he couldn't resist the opportunity to collect some wild yeast and create another unique loaf. i have to admit, i'm a bit jealous - i've always wanted to try my hand at making sourdough, but i don't think i'd have the guts to do it on the microsoft campus.

so, blackley snuck around the campus, leaving out containers of flour to get contaminated with the local microflora, and then took them home to cultivate. and after a week of waiting, he finally produced a beautiful 100% whole wheat, artisanal sourdough loaf - complete with an xbox logo scored into the top. i mean, that's just perfect. i love the combination of old-school gaming and old-school breadmaking - it's like the ultimate mashup of retro and artisanal.

i have to wonder what the conversation was like between blackley and the new xbox ceo, asha sharma. apparently, blackley was a bit skeptical of her at first, butRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
