so i just got done playing will: follow the light, and i'm kinda torn on how i feel about it. the game's got some gorgeous scandi landscapes and sailing is actually super fun, but the puzzles are kinda... meh. they're just so tedious and feel like they're holding the game back from being this amazing arctic adventure.

i think part of the problem is that the story starts off all mysterious and intriguing, but then it just gets really watered down. you play as will, a norwegian guy who's trying to find his son and dad after they disappear, but it turns out they're just chillin' on a neighboring island. it's like, okay, that's not really a compelling reason to risk your life and sail across the ocean. and don't even get me started on the puzzles - they're just so repetitive and feel like busywork.

i mean, i've had to do some pretty weird stuff in this game, like fix a lamp by placing identical pieces of glass back into the lens. and then there are these super long-winded puzzles where you have to do like a million little tasks just to get to the solution. it's just so frustrating, especially when the game's best moments are when you're out sailing on the open water. the sailing mechanics are actually really well done, and it feels so good to just ride the wind and enjoy the scenery.
