so, you might've heard the rumors about xbox laying off a ton of people and shutting down some of their game studios. it's all part of this big "reset" they're doing, and honestly, it's pretty confusing. one of the studios that's still up in the air is arkane lyon, which is working on a game called marvel's blade. i'm really interested in this game, mostly because i love the whole vampire vibe and blade is such an awesome character.



anyway, arkane lyon is in a bit of a weird spot because it's based in france, and there are some labor laws there that are making things more complicated. apparently, the studio has to have some kind of "consultation" with a regional works council, which is just a fancy way of saying they have to talk to some people and figure out what to do next. it's not clear what's going to happen to the studio, but there are a few possibilities - xbox could keep it, sell it, or just shut it down.



i'm really hoping that arkane lyon gets to keep making games, because they're so talented anddishonored is one of my all-time favorite games. the co-founder of arkane, raphael colantonio, even joked about buying the studio back from xbox, which would be kind of amazing. as for marvel's blade, it seems like it's still going to come out at some point, even though it's been delayed and is over budget. todd howard, the head of bethesda game studios, said he's seen the game and it looks really good, so that's a bit of a relief.
