omg, you guys, i just got the most bittersweet news about state of decay 3. i've been low-key obsessed with this series for ages, and i was totally stoked when they first announced the new game back in 2020. the reveal trailer was so cool, with this epic shot of a zombie deer that got me all hyped. but, sadly, it turns out that was just a tease - the game's studio head, philip holt, just confirmed that there won't be any zombie animals in the actual game.

i guess it's not that surprising, since the trailer was made super early on, when the game was still just a concept. apparently, the team was only like four or five people at that point, and they didn't even have a working build yet. so, all that cool stuff in the trailer was just a bunch of ideas they were playing around with. still, it's a bit of a bummer that we won't get to fight off hordes of undead wildlife.

on the other hand, it sounds like the game is shaping up to be pretty cool in its own right. according to holt, the game takes place years after the zombie outbreak, and the world is pretty much stripped bare. you'll have to scavenge for materials to craft your own gear, which sounds like a fun challenge. and, get this, you can even turn a tea kettle into a bomb that attracts zombies and then explodes. like, what? that's some crazy stuff.

i love that the team is putting so much thought into the crafting system, too. they're really getting into the details of how you can repurpose everyday objects to make new tools and weapons. it's like they're embracing this whole "makerRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
