so, you guys know how valve has been working on this whole steam machine and steam controller thing, right? it's been a bit of a rollercoaster, with lots of delays and not much info on when we can actually expect to get our hands on the stuff. but, i just found out that the steam controller is finally coming out on may 4th, and i am pretty stoked about it.

i was reading this interview with some valve engineers, and they were talking about how the steam controller is ready to go, and they're not just holding it back to release with the steam machine or anything. apparently, it's just been a matter of getting everything ready, from the hardware to the firmware, and making sure they have enough stock for a good launch. which, you know, makes sense - you don't want to release something and then have it be sold out immediately, that's just frustrating for everyone.

one thing that's kind of interesting is that the steam controller wasn't really affected by the whole ram shortage thing that's been going on. i mean, it doesn't need as much memory or storage as some other devices, so it was a bit more resilient to the shortages. but, at the same time, valve is still feeling the effects of the shortages, and it's causing some delays with the steam machine. which, sigh, is just really frustrating - i was so excited to get my hands on one of those, and now it's just who knows when.

the valve guys were saying that they're not thrilled about the situation, but at least they're not alone - the whole industry is dealing with the same challenges. so, i guess that's a bit of a silver lining, right? it's not just valve being valve, it'sRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
