omg, you guys, the latest nintendo direct just dropped and it's bringing some seriously cool news for all us final fantasy fans out there. we're getting our very first hd-2d final fantasy game, and it's called final fantasy resonance. i'm beyond hyped to see this unique style brought to the series, and it's coming to a ton of platforms - think playstation, xbox, pc, and nintendo switch.

so, here's the interesting part: final fantasy resonance isn't entirely a new game. it's actually based on the story from the now-closed mobile title, final fantasy: brave exvius. but don't worry, square enix is making it clear that this isn't just a port or remake. they're using the brave exvius story as a starting point and then adding in a bunch of new elements, including a brand new turn-based combat system. i mean, i'm all about that turn-based life, and the trailer already has me sold on the combat.

i love that square enix is adding in a ton of new features that weren't in brave exvius, like a new overworld, chocobos, and airships. and, of course, no final fantasy game would be complete without an amazing soundtrack - resonance has 33 new music tracks that were made just for the game. the visuals are also getting a lot of love, with a really cool pixel-based style that blends 3d graphics with pixel art. it's like they're taking the best of both worlds and smashing them together.
