i've got to admit, i'm a bit sad about this. i've had my fair share of experiences with steam gift cards, and they were always a nice way to treat myself or a friend to a new game. but, at the same time, i get why valve's doing this. scammers are just the worst, and if this helps prevent them from taking advantage of people, then i'm all for it. plus, digital gift cards are still an option, so it's not like we're losing out on the ability to buy gifts for our friends or family members.

one thing that does kind of stink, though, is that this is going to limit our options when it comes to buying steam credits. i mean, sure, we can still buy digital gift cards directly from valve, but it's not like we'll have the same flexibility we used to. no more trading in old games for credit, or taking advantage of sales and discounts at other stores. and, let's be real, this isn't exactly the best look for valve, given all the concerns about them running a monopoly.
