omg, you guys, the us government is trying to recruit gamers to become air traffic controllers. like, what even is that? it sounds kinda wild, but also super interesting. apparently, they're really struggling to find people to fill these positions, and they think gamers might be the perfect fit.



so, the transportation secretary sean duffy just posted this video on social media, trying to convince gamers to sign up for the job. he's all like, "it's not a game, it's a career!" and i'm over here thinking, yeah, no kidding. i mean, controlling air traffic is some serious stuff. but hey, the pay is pretty decent - $155,000 after three years is nothing to sneeze at.



the video itself is kinda cheesy, though. it's got this xbox one logo at the start, which is just... outdated. and then it shows these quick clips of popular games like madden, fortnite, and rocket league. i guess they're trying to appeal to gamers, but it feels a bit like they're just checking off a list of "gaming things" instead of actually understanding what gamers are about.

but, for real, being an air traffic controller sounds super stressful. i can imagine it's a lot of pressure, and the video even mentions that it can be tough on mental health. which is understandable, given how high-stakes the job is. still, if you're up for the challenge, the us government is apparently "supercharging" the hiring process, whatever that means. and, with a shortage of over 4,000 controllers, they're definitely in need of some new recruits.
