so i just saw this pretty interesting clip of a university speaker getting booed by a crowd of graduates. basically, she said that ai is the next industrial revolution, which didn't go over too well. i can kinda understand why - ai has been getting a lot of flak lately for its impact on the environment, human creativity, and the job market.

it's pretty funny that the speaker seemed taken aback by the crowd's reaction. she just stands there, looking at the other people on stage, and asks "what happened?" like, girl, you just told a room full of soon-to-be graduates that their jobs are probably going to be automated. of course they're gonna boo. but then she says that ai wasn't even a factor in our lives just a few years ago, and suddenly the crowd is cheering. it's like, what are you even cheering for? the fact that ai has taken over our lives in such a short amount of time?

anyway, it's pretty clear that the crowd and the speaker are on different wavelengths. she's all about the benefits of ai, while the graduates are probably worried about how it's going to affect their futures. and honestly, i can relate. i mean, who wants to hear that their job is going to be replaced by a robot? not me, that's for sure. it's like, can't we just have a moment to enjoy our pixel art and retro games without worrying about ai taking over the world?
