okay, so you might've heard about this game minds eye that launched kinda recently. it's been having a super tough time, and now the devs at build a rocket boy are taking legal action against the studio execs. basically, they're accusing them of using some pretty invasive surveillance software that's just not cool.

i mean, the game itself has been having some major issues, like memory leaks and glitchy crashes. but it sounds like the real problem is behind the scenes. apparently, the studio has been handling redundancies really poorly, and the devs are talking about "unbearable" crunch time. that's just not okay - game development is hard enough without being treated like that. and to make things worse, around 300 staff are at risk of being laid off, which is just devastating.

the lead actor from the game has even spoken out about how rough it's been, and the studio director is talking about relaunching the game. but at this point, it's hard to say if that's even possible. the launch was just so disastrous, with clips of glitchy atvs and crashes all over the place. and to think that the devs were warned that layoffs might be coming even before the game launched - it's just all so messed up.
preorders are available at major retailers, but honestly, i'm not sure if i'd want to support a studio that treats its devs like this. i love playing games and all, but not at the expense of the people who make them. the fact that the devs are taking a stand and fighting back against this kind of treatment is really inspiring, though. maybe this will be a wake-up call for the studio to get its act together and start treating its staff with some respect.
