oh man, you guys, i just heard the saddest news - claude guillemot, one of the founders of ubisoft, passed away in a plane crash. it's crazy to think about how much of an impact he had on the gaming world, and now he's just gone. i mean, ubisoft is behind so many amazing games that i've spent countless hours playing, from assassin's creed to far cry.

so, apparently the plane crash happened on june 19th in france, and claude was one of two people who died. he was 69 years old, which is just... wow. i can only imagine how tough this must be for his family and friends right now. the crash happened near a runway, and claude was actually on his way to some kind of aviation event, which is just a really sad irony.

i've been reading a bit about claude's background, and it's pretty cool to learn about how he started ubisoft back in 1986 with his brothers. they've all played such a huge role in shaping the gaming industry into what it is today, and it's amazing to think about all the classic games that have come out of ubisoft over the years. claude was also the chairperson of guillemot corporation, which is a pretty big deal.
