so, you might've heard that ubisoft is going through some tough times, and by that i mean they're closing down studios and laying off a ton of employees. it's pretty sad, especially since it's happening to people who are super passionate about making games. the latest closures are in winnipeg and belgrade, which is just devastating for the people who worked there.

i don't know about you, but when i hear about layoffs, i always think about the people who are affected and how they're going to find new jobs. apparently, this round of layoffs is going to hit around 380 people, which is just insane. and it's not like it's just a few people here and there - the barcelona studio is losing 28% of its workforce, which is a huge deal. i can only imagine how tough it must be for the people who are still working there, trying to figure out what's going on and how they'll be affected.

one thing that's kind of interesting is that the barcelona studio is going to start focusing only on the rainbow six franchise. i'm not sure what to think about this - on the one hand, it's cool that they're going to be able to focus on one thing and really make it amazing. but on the other hand, it's sad that they won't be able to work on other games and projects that they might be passionate about. and what about all the other games that they were working on? i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens to those.
