omg, you guys, twitch is under fire right now and it's kinda crazy. apparently, they're using streamer data to train some new ai system for amazon, and the worst part is that it's on by default. like, every stream, vod, comment - everything is being harvested for this thing unless you manually opt out.



i'm still trying to wrap my head around why they thought this was a good idea. i mean, wouldn't you want to ask people if they're okay with their content being used like that? apparently not, because twitch's chief product officer just straight up said that if it was opt-in, nobody would do it. that's kinda wild to me - it's like they know we don't want it, but they're just gonna do it anyway.



so, how do you even opt out of this thing? it's actually pretty easy - just go to your twitch settings, click on the security and privacy tab, and scroll down to the bottom. there's a toggle that says "training for generative ai" - just flip that switch and you're good to go. the problem is, not many people know about it, and twitch isn't exactly shouting it from the rooftops. they just kind of... announced it in a support post, and that's it.
