omg, you guys, twitch just dropped some major news that's got everyone freaking out. basically, they're gonna start using livestreams to train some kind of generative ai model, which sounds super cool at first, but the thing is, it's on by default and you have to manually opt out if you don't want to be a part of it. like, what even is that?



i'm not gonna lie, i'm a bit confused as to why they wouldn't just make it an opt-in feature from the start. it seems way more chill to just let people choose if they want to participate or not. but apparently, the chief product officer, mike minton, said that if it was opt-in, nobody would actually choose to join in. which, idk, seems kinda sketchy to me. it's like, don't you want people to be stoked about this new feature rather than just forcing them into it?



anyway, there was a live q&a session with minton and the head of community, mary kish, where they tried to address all the concerns and stuff. but it doesn't seem like it really calmed anyone down. people are still super upset about the whole thing, and i don't blame them. i mean, it's your stream, your content, and you should have control over how it's used, right? it sounds like this might be some kind of push from amazon, who's been really into ai for a while now, but still, it's weird that they're not just listening to their community.
