so i just heard about the new tomb raider game, legacy of atlantis, and i'm kinda intrigued. the developers, crystal dynamics, are trying some new stuff with this one, and it's got me wondering if it'll pay off. apparently, they used some special tech to help with development, which is pretty cool, i guess.

from what i've seen, legacy of atlantis has a bit of a double-a vibe going on, which is weird for a tomb raider game. i mean, these games are usually super polished and big-budget, but this one feels a bit different. maybe it's just me, but i'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. on the one hand, it could be cool to see a more laid-back, smaller-scale tomb raider game, but on the other hand, i do love the big, epic feel of the usual tomb raider games.

anyway, there's been some news about the game's development, including some layoffs at crystal dynamics. that's always a bummer to hear, but it sounds like the studio is still working on some other projects, like a remake and something called catalyst. legacy of atlantis also got a slight delay, which isn't too surprising, but it's still a bit of a disappointment. preorders are available at major retailers, so if you're interested, you can still get in on that.
