omg, you guys, have you heard about the memory crisis that's been hitting pc builders lately? it's like, super crazy - ram prices have literally quadrupled in some cases, and it's making it so hard for people to build their own pcs without breaking the bank. i mean, i've always loved tinkering with my own pc, but now it's like, do i really want to spend four times as much on ram as i used to?



apparently, this crisis is way different from the one that happened with gpus a few years ago. back then, it was just cryptominers buying up all the cards, but now it's like, everything is affected - memory, storage, the whole works. and it's not just a little price hike, either - we're talking twice or even three times the original price. jese martinez, the founder of powergpu, said that they've had to get creative just to stay afloat, like moving to a smaller warehouse and stocking up on memory and storage when they could.



i feel so bad for these pc builders, you know? they're literally in survival mode right now, just trying to make ends meet. and it's not like they can just absorb the cost of the price hike, either - they have to pass it on to the customers, which means we're the ones who end up suffering. wallace santos, the ceo of maingear, said that he's never seen anything like this before, and he's worried that it's going to take years for the prices to come back down.
