so i just heard about this game that literally costs $200 - yes, you read that right, two hundred dollars. it's called this game costs 200 dollars, and i'm still trying to wrap my head around who would actually pay that much for a game. i mean, i love gaming as much as the next person, but come on, that's just ridiculous.

apparently, the game's developer, michael major, released this game as some kind of experiment to see if people would actually buy it. and buy it they did - at least, for a little while. the game made a whopping $1.3 million in sales, but here's the kicker: almost all of those sales were refunded. like, 6707 out of 6717 copies were returned, with most of them coming from china. it's pretty wild to think about what could have driven people to buy and then immediately return the game like that.

from what i can gather, major thinks that some people might have been buying and refunding the game just to get some kind of points or rewards for spending the most money possible without actually keeping the game. it's a pretty weird theory, but i guess it's possible. and who knows, maybe this is some kind of scheme to game the system - no pun intended. either way, it's pretty interesting to see how valve's refund policy worked out in this case, and how major ended up with a little over $2000 in the end.
