so there's been some drama surrounding gunzilla games, the studio behind off the grid, a battle royale game that's gotten a lot of attention lately. apparently, some former employees have come forward saying they didn't get paid on time, which is pretty concerning. the ceo, vlad korolev, has responded to these claims in a pretty lengthy tweet.

from what i've gathered, korolev is basically saying that the studio has never delayed payments to full-time employees by more than a week, but it sounds like contractors might be a different story. he mentions that some payments might be scheduled in a way that works for the company's cash flow, which doesn't exactly sound ideal for the people waiting to get paid. he does apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, though.

i'm not really sure what to make of all this, to be honest. on one hand, it's good that korolev is acknowledging the issue and apologizing for it. on the other hand, it's not great that contractors might be getting paid late, especially if they're working full-time hours. i can understand that the gaming industry can be tough, and studios have to make tough decisions to stay afloat, but it's still important to treat your employees fairly.

off the grid itself is available on ps5, xbox series x/s, and pc, and it's gotten a lot of attention for being one of the first big web3 games. i've heard mixed things about it, but i'm not really sure if i'm interested in checking it out myself. the whole nft thing kinda turns me off, to be honest. anyway, preorders are available at major retailers, if you're into that sort of thing.
