omg, have you guys heard about samson, this new open-world crime game from liquid swords? it's been getting a lot of comparisons to grand theft auto, which is kinda inevitable, but the devs are trying to carve out their own space. apparently, they're not trying to be a direct competitor to gta, but more like a side game that you can pick up and play when you need a break from rockstar's massive series.

i can see why people would compare it to gta, though - the gameplay does look pretty similar, with a mix of driving, fighting, and exploring an open world. but the devs are saying that their game is more of a smaller-scale, low-key experience. they're not trying to make some huge, sprawling epic, but more of a tight, focused game that you can play in shorter sessions. i kinda like that idea, personally - sometimes i don't want to get sucked into a 50-hour gta campaign, you know?

the studio's co-founder, christofer sundberg, has been talking about how gta is just this huge phenomenon that competes with everything in entertainment, not just other games. and i think he's right - when a new gta game comes out, it's like a cultural event or something. but sundberg thinks there's still room for other games to exist alongside gta, and that's what they're trying to do with samson. they want it to be a game that you can play when you need a break from gta, or when you're in the mood for something a little different.
