omg, you guys, i just heard the most hilarious story about the old days of tech rivalries. so, apparently, the team behind windows nt was pretty sassy back in the 90s, and they loved to play pranks on their competitors. i mean, who doesn't love a good prank, right? but this one takes the cake.

apparently, they sent these super ominous black cardboard coffins to their rivals at sun microsystems, along with a birthday card that played the death march. i mean, that's just dark, but also kinda genius. and it gets even better - they also included some fake dog poop in the box, because why not? it's just so ridiculous and amazing at the same time. i can only imagine the looks on their faces when they opened those boxes.

i think what's even funnier is that this was all in response to some ads that sun was running, featuring a dog named network who was supposedly peeing on a fire hydrant with the microsoft logo on it. i mean, that's a pretty low blow, but i guess the windows nt team just decided to take it to the next level. and honestly, i kinda admire their spirit. i mean, who needs a boring old press release when you can send a coffin and some fake poop?
