omg, you guys, have you heard about the new super mario galaxy movie? it's literally killing it at the box office right now, and i am so here for it. i mean, i've been waiting for this movie for ages, and it's amazing to see it's doing so well. apparently, it's already surpassed expectations and become the most successful film of the year, which is pretty crazy.



so, i was a bit worried that it wouldn't live up to the original super mario bros movie, but it's actually done really well for itself. it didn't quite beat the original's opening weekend, but it came pretty close with a global debut of $372.6 million. that's still a huge deal, and it's now the second-best opening for the production studio illumination. i'm so happy to see nintendo's beloved characters getting the recognition they deserve on the big screen.



i've been hearing that the movie's done really well in the us market, with a big five-day total of around $190 million, and international markets have been adding to that total. it's also the best five-day opening weekend since disney's moana 2, which is a pretty big deal. i'm a bit surprised that it's doing so well, considering some critics weren't totally convinced by it, but it just goes to show that the fans know what they want. according to rotten tomatoes, 89 percent of moviegoers enjoyed the film, which is a pretty strong indication that it's a hit.
