so, you've probably heard the news about sony deciding to ditch physical discs for playstation games. it's a pretty big deal, and a lot of people are not happy about it. like, i get that digital is the way of the future and all, but there's just something about having a physical copy of a game that feels more... real, you know?

anyway, there's this petition going around called "don't kill the disc" that's already gotten over 170,000 signatures. it's not like petitions always lead to actual change or anything, but it's still pretty cool to see so many people coming together to show their support for physical discs. the petition was started by this small canadian retailer, pnp games, and it's basically calling out sony for going back on their promise to let us own our games, not just rent them.

one of the things that's really interesting about this whole situation is that sony used to be all about mocking other companies for trying to restrict what we can do with our games. like, remember that video from e3 2013 where they were all "you can trade it, sell it, lend it to a friend, or keep it forever"? yeah, that's not really a thing anymore. now, if this change goes through, all playstation games will be digital only, which kind of feels like a step backwards.
