so i just got done playing bubsy 4d and i have to say, it's been a wild ride. i mean, who would've thought that a game series notorious for being pretty bad would come back with a new installment? but hey, atari decided to give it another shot, and this time they've teamed up with fabraz, a studio that's actually made some pretty cool platformers in the past.

at first, i was kinda skeptical about the whole thing. i mean, bubsy 3d is often cited as one of the worst games ever made, so it's not like the series has a great track record. but then i started playing bubsy 4d and i was like, okay, this isn't actually that bad. the controls take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, bubsy can be pretty agile and fun to play as. he's got all these crazy moves like double jumping and gliding, and it's pretty satisfying to chain them all together and just fly through the levels.

the thing that really gets me, though, is the humor. it's just so... cheesy. i mean, i get that they're going for that retro vibe, but it feels like they're trying way too hard. all the fourth-wall-breaking jokes and references just feel like they're trying to be funny, but they're not really landing. it's like they took all the worst parts of 90s cartoons and mashed them together into this one game. and don't even get me started on the dialogue - it's just cringeworthy at times.
