so i just found out that the new backward compatible xbox games on pc are basically running on a double layer of console emulation - yeah, it's like an emulator turducken. apparently, the original xbox games are running on an og xbox emulator, which is itself inside an xbox 360 emulator. it's pretty mind-blowing to think about how microsoft is using this tech to bring old games to pc.

i did some digging and it seems that developers have already figured out how to use these emulators to run other xbox 360 games on pc, even ones that haven't been officially released yet. it's all pretty technical, but from what i understand, it involves combining microsoft's xeO3 with some components of xwine1. the results are a bit hit-or-miss, but it's still really cool to see people experimenting with this stuff.

i have to admit, i'm a bit fascinated by the whole thing. i mean, who wouldn't want to play old xbox games on their pc? and the fact that microsoft is using this emulation tech to make it happen is just genius. it's like they're building a tower of emulators or something. i'm not sure what kind of implications this will have for game preservation and emulation in the long term, but for now, it's just cool to see people pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

one thing that's interesting is how this tech is based on the original xbox backwards compatibility on the 360, which used an emulator called xefu to run old games. it's crazy to think that this tech is still being used today, and that it's the basis for microsoft's later backwards compatibility efforts on the xbox series consoles. preorders are available at major retailers, if you're interested in checking outRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
