omg, you guys, remember that super quirky multiplayer shooter with radioactive attack bears and moose-drawn artillery? yeah, it's called striden, and i'm really sad to say it's shutting down. the game was still in early access, and it's only been out for less than a year, which is crazy.

i first heard about striden back in 2024, and i was immediately drawn to its weird mix of rust and stalker vibes, combined with the utterly bizarre wildlife. it was like nothing i'd ever seen before, and i was low-key obsessed. but unfortunately, it seems like the game just didn't attract enough players to keep it going. the devs, 5 fortress, said they had some interest from major publishers, but they were put off by the low player numbers. it's like, a total catch-22 - they needed more players to get publisher support, but they needed publisher support to get more players.

apparently, things only got worse from there. the devs had to deal with cheaters and toxic players, which is just the worst, and they even got hit with a cyberattack that's still being investigated. can you even imagine? it's like, they were already struggling to keep the game afloat, and then they got slammed with all these extra problems. they tried to make it work, though - they added new game modes like a solo survival mode, but it just didn't pay off.

it's really sad to see striden go, especially since the devs seem like they really cared about the game. they're shutting down the servers, laying off all the staff, and just closing up shop. it's a bummer, because i think striden had a lot of potential. but hey, at leastRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
