omg, you guys, the graphics card situation just keeps getting worse. i mean, we're already dealing with pretty steep prices, and now there are rumors that nvidia is going to hike them up even more - like, by as much as 30%. this is all because of the ongoing memory crisis, which is making it super hard for manufacturers to get their hands on the necessary components, like gddr6 and gddr7 memory.

so, apparently, nvidia has already raised the prices of its gpu kits for its partners, and now we're seeing reports that the prices of the actual graphics cards are going to go up too. this is going to affect a bunch of different models, including the rtx 5090 and rtx 5080. i've seen some crazy price tags floating around - like, the rtx 5090 is already over $3,800 in some places, and the rtx 5080 is over $1,800. that's just insane.

i guess the reason for all this is that the memory crisis is making it really tough for manufacturers to source the components they need. it's not just nvidia, either - amd is feeling the pinch too, which is why they just released a 4gb version of the rx 9050. it's like, they're trying to find ways to work around the memory shortage, but it's not really helping with the prices. and to make matters worse, the memory manufacturers are just raking it in - sk hynix and samsung just reported record profits, which is just great for them, i guess.
