omg, you guys, i just heard the most random update about final fantasy 9 - remember how everyone's been waiting for a remake forever? well, it looks like that's been put on hold, at least for now. i'm kinda bummed, but also not entirely surprised - we've been hearing rumors about this remake for ages, and it's always been super vague.



so, what's going on instead? apparently, there's an animated series in the works, and it's actually focusing on the black mages, which is pretty cool. i love those characters, and i think it could be really interesting to see their story explored in a different way. and, funnily enough, all this is happening while final fantasy 9 is celebrating its 25th anniversary - square enix even put up a special website for it, which got everyone's hopes up about the remake all over again.



but, in some other news, toshiyuki itahana - one of the artists behind final fantasy - is leaving square enix, which is a bit of a bummer. i love his work, and i'm not sure what this means for future final fantasy games. on the bright side, though, it looks like there might be a final fantasy tactics remaster on the way, which i am totally down for - i've always loved tactics games, and this one is a classic.



preorders are available at major retailers, but i'm not sure what we're preordering at this point - the animated series, maybe, or possibly the tactics remaster? either way, i'm pretty excited to see what square enix has in store for us, even if it's not the final fantasy 9 remake we were all hoping for. and, whoRead more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
