omg, have you guys heard about the james pond trademark drama? so, there's this old school platformer series from the 90s that's basically a parody of james bond, and it's pretty funny. i mean, who wouldn't want to play as a fish in a tuxedo?

anyway, the owners of the james pond rights, gameware and system 3, are trying to trademark the name in the uk, which would cover stuff like video games, toys, and even clothing. but, the owners of the james bond trademark, danjaq llc, are not having it. they've filed an opposition to the trademark application, which isn't surprising considering they've done the same thing before back in 2012.

i think it's kinda weird that gameware and system 3 are trying to trademark james pond in the uk, especially since they didn't succeed in getting a european trademark. and, to make things even more complicated, the original creator of james pond, chris sorrell, is not involved in the new project and is actually pretty upset about how it's being handled. apparently, they're planning to release a new game called james pond and the rogue ai, which sorrell has already trashed.

preorders are available at major retailers, but i'm not sure if i'm excited about this new game. i mean, i love the old james pond games, but it sounds like the new one might be a bit of a cash grab. and, with the whole trademark drama going on, it's hard to say what's going to happen next. i guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
