okay, so you guys know how there's been a huge demand for computer chips lately? it's like, everyone wants them, but there just aren't enough to go around. well, the company that makes the machines that actually produce these chips, ASML, just announced that they're selling way more than they thought they would. and that's pretty interesting, if you ask me.

apparently, this is because the companies that use these machines, like the big names in chipmaking, are investing a ton of money in expanding their production capacity. they're talking about building entire new factories and stuff, which is no small feat. the CEO of ASML says that this is happening in both the memory (DRAM) and processor/accelerator chip markets, and that their customers are making long-term agreements to get ready for the increased demand.

now, i'm no expert, but it seems like this is all connected to the whole AI thing that's been going on. everyone wants to get in on that action, and it's causing a bit of a chip shortage. which, you know, is not great for us gamers who just want to build our own rigs without breaking the bank. but hey, at least it's driving innovation, right? ASML is even expecting to ship a bunch of new systems this year, which should help meet some of that demand.

the numbers are pretty crazy, too. they're talking about growth of over 25% in advanced logic foundry-related sales, and over 45% in EUV net system sales. that's a lot of systems, if you ask me. and it's not just ASML - other companies, like TSMC, are investing huge amounts of money in new production facilities. like, $100 billion huge.Read more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
