so i just logged into steam and was greeted with a pretty cool new layout - it's still in beta, but you can opt in if you want to check it out. basically, the steam store has gotten a bit of a refresh, with wider images and infinite scrolling on the homepage. i have to say, it's pretty nice - the bigger screenshots definitely make it easier to get a feel for a game at a glance.

one of the things that caught my attention was the new hover states - it's a small thing, but it's actually really nice to have more info pop up when you mouse over a game. you get a short blurb, some user reviews, and even a trailer if you want it (though you can disable that if it gets annoying). and if you're using a higher res monitor, or playing on steam deck or in big picture mode, the new layout is supposedly even more responsive and pretty.

i'm also loving the new discover queue and wishlist sections - it's way easier to find new games that might interest you, and valve's done a good job of using your library and wishlist to suggest games and dlc that are actually relevant. of course, it's not a total overhaul or anything, but the changes are definitely an improvement. preorders are available at major retailers, if you're looking to get in on the action early.
