omg, you guys, i just heard the worst news - dbrand's companion cube case for the steam machine is cancelled. like, i was so stoked when they first announced it, and i know i'm not the only one. the idea of wrapping your steam machine in a case that looks like the portal companion cube is just genius. it's like, the ultimate combo of retro gaming vibes and modern tech.



apparently, dbrand got a little too excited and started working on the case without actually asking valve for permission. yeah, i know, it sounds crazy, but i guess they just got caught up in the hype. they put over a thousand hours into designing and engineering the thing, and even rented out a university campus to film a launch video. but when valve found out, they were like, "uh, no, you can't just use our ip without asking." and honestly, i don't blame them.
