so i just heard the news about the helldivers movie adaptation and i'm kinda shocked - jason momoa is out as the lead star. i mean, it was only a few months ago that we found out he was on board, and now he's just... gone. no one knows why, which is even more intriguing. i was really looking forward to seeing him kick some alien butt on the big screen.



i guess this means sony pictures and playstation productions are back to square one, searching for a new star to carry the movie. it's not like they have a ton of time to waste, either - the movie is still set to release on november 10th, 2027. i'm a bit worried that the casting woes might push the release date back, but hopefully they can find someone awesome to fill the role soon. the plot details are still super secretive, but if it's anything like the games, it'll be a wild ride full of action and bug-squashing fun.



it's funny, because i was just thinking about the helldivers games and how they remind me of starship troopers - that classic 90s movie that's so over-the-top and amazing. apparently, sony is also working on a new adaptation of a robert a. heinlein novel, which has a similar vibe. i'm curious to see how they'll make these two projects different, aside from just having different tones. maybe one will be more serious and the other will be more tongue-in-cheek?
