omg you guys, have you heard about the whole sony drm thing that's been going on? basically, they've added this one-time online check for new playstation games, and it's got a lot of people worried. the idea is that you need to go online once after you buy a game to confirm the license, and then you're good to go - no more check-ins needed.

so, what's the big deal? well, some people were freaking out because they thought they'd have to be online all the time to play their games, or that they'd lose access after a certain amount of time. but it turns out that's not really the case. if you do go online within a certain timeframe (like, 15 days after you buy the game), the license becomes permanent and you can play offline no problem.

i'm kinda relieved that it's not as bad as people thought, but at the same time, i'm still a bit miffed that sony didn't just announce this thing properly in the first place. i mean, come on, a little communication would've gone a long way in avoiding all the confusion and panic. and there's still this whole "cbomb" issue that hasn't been addressed, which is pretty concerning. apparently, if your playstation's cmos battery dies, you might not be able to validate your license and play your games - which is just, like, a whole other can of worms.
preorders are available at major retailers, btw. but anyway, back to the drama. so, the "cbomb" thing is basically a problem that could lock people out of their games in the future, especially if sony stops supporting the consoles. it's not a huge deal right now, but it'sRead more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
