omg, you guys, have you heard the latest news about destiny 2? it's pretty shocking - sony and bungie just announced they're laying off a huge chunk of the destiny 2 team, as well as some people from the marathon team. like, we're talking "most" of the destiny 2 team here, which is just crazy to think about.

i'm still trying to process how this happened, but apparently bungie and sony decided to make these cuts after destiny 2's final update was released. the update was basically a farewell to the game, and it was actually really cool to see all the key characters' storylines wrapped up. but i guess it wasn't enough to save the game from its declining playerbase. it's sad to think about all the people who lost their jobs because of this - i can only imagine how tough it must be for them.

so, what does this mean for bungie's future? honestly, it's hard to say right now. the company is being pretty vague about its plans, just saying that they're "reorganizing" and that they'll share more info later. but we do know that marathon is still a priority for them, despite some of its developers being let go. marathon is actually a really cool game, and i'm excited to see where it goes from here - it's available on pc, ps5, and xbox series x/s, and it's already had a pretty successful first season.
