so i just found out that the devs of slay the spire 2 weren't even planning on making a sequel at first. like, can you blame them? the first game was already a masterpiece, and it's not every day you get to ride off into the sunset with a game that's already super successful. but, as it turns out, things got pretty complicated when humble games, the publisher handling the first game's ports, shut down in 2024.

i guess what happened was that mega crit, the studio behind slay the spire, was left in a bit of a pickle. they couldn't just update the pc version of the game and leave console and mobile players hanging, but at the same time, they couldn't really do anything about those versions either. it's like, they were stuck between a rock and a hard place, and i can see why they'd feel pretty murky about the whole situation. i mean, who wants to abandon their players like that?

anyway, it seems like the solution was to just make a whole new game, aka slay the spire 2. and honestly, i'm so glad they did. i've been playing it nonstop, and it's just as addictive as the first one. they've added a bunch of new stuff, like two new characters and co-op, which is pretty cool. i've already sunk like, a million hours into it (okay, maybe not that many, but it feels like it), and i'm still finding new things to love about it.
