so, you guys might've heard that sega just canceled its super game, a live service title that was supposed to be this huge deal. and honestly, i'm kinda relieved. i mean, who needs another game that's just gonna try to suck up all our time and money with microtransactions and seasons and all that jazz?

i remember when sega first announced the super game back in 2021, they were all about how it was gonna be this amazing, global phenomenon that would change the game (no pun intended). but now, just a few years later, they're pulling the plug due to "intensifying market competition". which, let's be real, is just a nice way of saying that the live service market is super saturated and they didn't want to get left behind.

apparently, the disappointing results of sonic rumble party were a big factor in this decision, but i think it's more than that. i mean, sega's not stupid, they can see that the live service model isn't always the best way to go. and with so many other companies pouring all their resources into these kinds of games, it's getting harder and harder to stand out. plus, with classics like world of warcraft and league of legends still going strong, it's tough for new games to compete.
