so i just heard about this game called ascenders: beyond the peak and i'm lowkey obsessed already. it's basically a turn-based roguelite where you control a team of alpine occultists trying to recover cursed artifacts from these lovecraftian mountains. the twist is that the mountains are alive and waking up, and you have to navigate through all these treacherous biomes and avoid cosmic horrors.

i love how this game combines elements of darkest dungeon with a vertical traversal system, where you have to manage your party's rope and make tough decisions when someone loses their grip. it's like, you have to choose who to save and who to sacrifice, which is super dark and intense. and the fact that everybody is permakillable just adds to the stress and urgency of the game. i'm definitely intrigued by the idea of exploring different mountains and biomes, like jungle cliffs with toxic vegetation - it sounds so cool and scary at the same time.

one of the things that really caught my attention is the whole sanity system and how the mountains can affect your climbers' mental health. it's like, you have to balance the risks and rewards of using cursed artifacts, which can either give you an edge or completely traumatize your team. and then there's the whole faction system, where you can trade artifacts to different groups and upgrade your base camp. it sounds like there are so many layers to this game, and i'm excited to see how it all plays out.
