omg, you guys, i just heard the most frustrating news about paizo, the creators of pathfinder 2e - they're having to lay off 12 staff members due to some major financial struggles. and the worst part is, it's not even their fault. apparently, diamond comics, one of their distributors, filed for bankruptcy last year and now paizo has $10 million worth of inventory stuck in a warehouse that they can't access.

i'm still trying to wrap my head around how this happened, but basically diamond comics had an exclusive contract with paizo that prevented them from switching to a new distributor, even after diamond stopped selling their books. and to make matters worse, jp morgan chase is claiming a lien on all the products stored in diamond's warehouse, including paizo's inventory. it's all super complicated and messy, and i can only imagine how stressful it must be for the people involved.

what really gets me is that paizo seems like a really great company - they're all about sharing their content and making it accessible to everyone. i mean, they even make all of the pathfinder 2e rules available for free, except for their pre-written campaigns and adventures. they're not some big, greedy corporation trying to screw people over - they're just a company that's been dealt a really bad hand. and it's not like they're not trying to take care of their employees, either - they're working with their union to provide decent terms for the people who are being laid off, including an 18-month recall period.

preorders are available at major retailers, but that's not really the point right now. the point is that paizo is in a tough spot, and it's not because of anything they did wrong. it'sRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
