ok, so i just found out about this super weird and cool puzzle game called object impermanence, and i'm kinda obsessed with the idea behind it. basically, it's like the opposite of what we learn as babies - you know, that thing where we figure out that just because we can't see something, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist? yeah, this game flips that on its head and makes it so that if you're not looking at something, it literally stops being there.

i love the whole aesthetic of the game, too - it's all set on this alien planet with these ancient ruins and weird, glowing balls that you have to move around to solve puzzles. it's kinda like portal, but with this whole "out of sight, out of existence" twist that makes it feel really fresh and challenging. for example, you might be trying to get one of these balls to roll through a pipe, but if you don't keep looking at it through the gaps, it'll just stop moving and you'll have to start over.

it's not just the balls, either - the whole world seems to work like this. like, there's this one part where you can't get through a sewer grate unless you turn around and look away from it, which is just so mind-bending. and then there are these moments where things can get really tense, like when a train car is about to crash into you but you can make it disappear just by looking away. it's all really clever and i'm curious to see what other kinds of puzzles and tricks the game has in store for us.

from what i've seen, object impermanence is set to come out sometime in q4 2026, which feels like a pretty long wait but i'm hopingRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
