so i just heard that the new james bond game, 007 first light, was originally going to be way different from what we got. apparently, the devs at io interactive were thinking of making it more of an ensemble piece, where bond is part of a team of agents working together. that sounds kinda cool, right? i mean, who wouldn't want to play a game with a bunch of young, rookie spies running around and getting into trouble.

i think what's really interesting is that you can still see hints of this original idea in the game. like, in the early stages, bond is training with a bunch of other agents, and they all seem like they're going to be main characters. they've got their own personalities, and you get to see bond interact with them in a way that's pretty rare for a bond game. it's all very lighthearted and fun, with a lot of banter and joking around. and for a while, it feels like this is what the whole game is going to be like - a fun, action-adventure romp with a team of spies.

but then, things take a turn. basically, the game pulls the rug out from under you, and suddenly it's not about the team anymore - it's all about bond. and to be honest, it's a bit jarring. i mean, i was really enjoying the ensemble aspect, and it felt like the game was setting up something that it didn't quite deliver on. according to the game's writer, michael vogt, this was a deliberate choice. they wanted to show bond's growth and maturity, and they felt like they needed to make the game more serious to do that.

i'm not sure how i feel about this, to be honest.Read more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
