so i just heard about the new assassin's creed black flag remake, resynced, and i'm kinda torn about it. on one hand, i love the original game and the idea of playing it with updated graphics and all that jazz sounds amazing. but on the other hand, i've been reading some pretty negative reviews on steam, and it seems like the game is getting slammed for its microtransactions.

apparently, the game has a ton of cosmetic dlc that you can buy, and some of it even gives you a gameplay advantage. i can see why people are upset - it feels kinda greedy to charge £60 for a game and then ask for even more money for extra stuff. i mean, i've seen some of the comments on steam, and people are saying that they bought the deluxe edition, which is already pretty pricey, and then they're being asked to spend even more money on dlc. it's like, what's the point of buying a special edition if you're just gonna get nickel and dimed anyway?

i've been thinking about it, and i guess i can see both sides. on one hand, if you don't want to buy the dlc, you don't have to. it's not like it's required to play the game or anything. and if you do want to buy it, well, that's your choice, right? but on the other hand, it does feel kinda scummy to be charging people for stuff that maybe should just be included in the game in the first place. like, there's this resource pack that gives you gold and crafting materials, and it's only £4.29, but still, it feels like something that should just be part of the game.
