so i just heard about this crazy modding project where someone got an intel bartlett lake cpu running on a z790 motherboard. for those who don't know, bartlett lake cpus are pretty niche and usually used for edge, embedded, and networking stuff, not your average gaming pc. but what's really cool is that they're all performance cores, no efficient cores in sight.

i think what's even more impressive is how they managed to pull it off - using some ai tool called claude to edit the bios. apparently, the modder uploaded bios files and claude did its magic, resulting in a custom bios that can run the bartlett lake cpu on the z790 board. the best part? they didn't even need to replace any modules, just a straight bios edit. and get this, they used the free version of claude, which is pretty amazing considering the bios file size was only 16 mb.

now, i know some of you might be thinking, "wait, isn't the z790 motherboard only compatible with certain cpus?" and you're right, it is. but somehow, this modder got the bartlett lake cpu to boot into windows on the z790 board, which is pretty wild. of course, it's not all smooth sailing - there are still some issues, like the cpu not being able to boot into the bios, so you need to swap it out with another cpu just to make bios changes. and apparently, the modded bios doesn't work with some desktop cpus that the motherboard was originally designed for.

i have to say, i'm pretty impressed by this modding project, even if it's not perfect. i mean, who wouldn't want to run a 12-core cpu with all performance cores on a consumerRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
