omg, you guys, i just heard the most amazing news about mixtape - it's not gonna get delisted due to music licensing issues. i know, i know, it sounds like a total miracle, but apparently the devs were smart and paid extra to license all the songs in the game for, like, forever.

i was super worried about this when i first saw mixtape, because let's be real, music licensing can be a total nightmare. the game has so many awesome songs embedded into the story, and i just assumed it was a matter of time before it got pulled from stores. but it seems like the devs at beethoven and dinosaur were all over it, and they even got confirmation from the publisher annapurna that the game is safe.

so, how did they manage to get all these licenses, you ask? well, apparently the music supervisor had a pretty clear idea of what was realistic to ask for, and they even used some of the requests as a kind of "boundary test" to see what they could get away with. they didn't get everything they wanted, of course - no pink floyd, sadly - but they did get "pretty much everything" they asked for, according to the producer.
i love the story about how they got the smashing pumpkins on board, btw. apparently they just sent a clip of the game to billy corgan, and he was all about it. i mean, who wouldn't want their music featured in a game, right? it's just so cool that the devs were able to get all these amazing artists on board, and that we get to enjoy their music in the game.

anyway, mixtape is out now on steam, and it's also available on ps5 and xbox series xRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
