i'm not sure what's more shocking, the fact that the prices increased so much or that the 1 tb model of the xbox series s now costs more than the 1 tb xbox series x console. like, what even is the point of having different models if they're just going to cost the same or more? it's all pretty confusing. the new prices are now live on the microsoft germany website, so if you're in europe and were planning on buying an xbox, you might want to check those out and prepare yourself for the sticker shock.

the price hike isn't just limited to one or two models, either - it's across the board. the 512gb xbox series s now costs €499.99 (up from €349.99) and £429.99 (up from £299.99), while the 1tb xbox series x disc edition now costs €799.99 (up from €599.99) and £669.99 (up from £499.99). that's a pretty big jump, and i'm not sure how microsoft expects to sell many consoles at these prices. preorders are available at major retailers, but i'm not sure who's going to be willing to shell out that kind of cash.
